THEME : Superstition
TITLE : Korean Dating Superstition

 

In my humble opinion, all countries have their own superstitions. Surely, Korea has plenty of superstitions about wealth, health, luck, love and so on. I would like to explain to you about Korean dating superstitions which I believe or not.

Firstly, if you give your Korean boyfriend or girlfriend shoes as a present, they’ll run away or they’ll cheat on you. In my first case, I received a trainer by from my ex-boyfriend. I don’t believe this superstition. As, I didn’t cheat and run away. Thus, I don’t agree with that. That wasn’t the reason which why I parted with him.     

Secondly, if you catch the bouquet at a wedding, you have to get married within 6 months, or you’ll never get married. When I was 25 years old, I caught the bouquet at my best friend’s wedding. Above Among all my friends, she my best friend married her boyfriend first. Most Koreans believe that. Therefore, nobody wants to catch the bouquet. I’m not different. As a consequence, I was obliged to catch the bouquet at my best friend’s wedding. though I prayed to be for her happiness though. Moreover, I didn’t get married until now.

In my point of view, most superstitions depend on one’s own situations or feelings or emotions. It might be true or not. Although that isn’t true, some people can believe that and can’t believe that.

Day11.

THEME : Embarrassing Situation
TITLE : Slip of the Tongue in Cebu

 

These are episodes of my batchmates and I. If you know Korea, you can comprehend that meaning of sentences.

Episode 1. This episode happened in Ayala mall. One of my batchmates went to a money exchange house stoll. She was passing money to the money exchanger, she stately said, “백peso, please”.  After then, the other of batchmates told to her “Can she understand?”. At that time, her face was distorted. (“백” means one hundred. )

Episode 2. This episode happened in a taxi. I and three of my batchmates went to SM mall last weekend. After shopping, we took a taxi. We were talking to each other about mangosteens. Though one of my batchmates really wanted to buy mangosteens, she couldn’t buy that those because of sellout. Suddenly, she found a store which sells mangosteens. And then, she was reading a sign of the fruit store and spoke loudly “미..미뉴잇메이드! Let’s go there later”. However, that was an advertisement sign which is Minute Maid. We laughed loudly for a long time.

Episode 3. This episode happened in SME. After having lunch, I was dying to eat icecream because the weather was too hot. So I proposed eating icecream to one of my batchmates together. As a result, we were going to snack store and I said “2개,please” confidently. Next to the one of My batchmates next to me laugh loudly. I realized what I said belatedly. Afterward, I was very embarrassed. (“개” means counting a number)

 

SME SPARTA CAMPUS 연수후기 1 - 적응기

벌써 SME SPARTA CAMPUS 생활 3주차가 되었다.
내가 SME 를 선택한 이유는 평일 외출 금지, 90분 수업, 시설, 티타임, 선생님들의 근속연수가 길다는 점이다.
여기 오기 전에 직장생활을 2년 넘게 해왔고, 적지 않은 나이에 스파르타 스케줄을 소화할 수 있을까 우려가 많았었는데, 힘들지 않게 적응할 수 있었다.
3주 동안 스파르타 캠퍼스에 오자마자 새로 산 내 수화물 가방 비밀번호가 고장났고, 변기는 막혔었고, 세면대 물 새고, 개미와의 전쟁도 치르고, 지진도 겪고 기타 등등 정말 한국에서 겪어보지 못했던 상상하지 못했던 많은 일들을 경험했지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 내가 지금 여기에서 이 생활에 만족하는 건 여러 좋은 배치메이트도 만나고 그래서 좀 더 내 미래와 목표에 대한 생각도 많이 할 수 있고, 주말에만 나갈 수 있는 꿀맛같은 외출 및 다양한 액티비티를 할 수 있다는 점이다. 3주 동안 있으면서 내가 바라본 SME에 대해 적어보고자 한다.

1. 학원
   도착해서 IELTS로 레벨 테스트를 보고, 오리엔테이션을 진행한다. 오리엔테이션 다음날이 필리핀 휴일이어서 다음날부터 수업을 진행했는데, 오리엔테이션 때 소개받은 SA티처와 점심을 먹으면서 건물 설명이나 궁금한 점을 들을 수 있다. 내 SA티처는 AILYN인데 정말 쿨하고 SME 생활에 도움을 많이 준다.
   건물이나 강의실은 파노라마 사진으로 보는 것과 거의 비슷했고, 강의실 마다 에어컨 세기가 달라서 스스로 건강 관리를 잘 해야할 것 같다.

2. 기숙사
   1주는 스파르타 기숙사, 그 이후는 프리미엄 기숙사에 머물기로 되어있었다.처음에 스파르타 기숙사에 들어갔는데 생각보다 시설이 좋았다. 그래서 괜히 프리미엄으로 옮긴다 했나 싶을 정도였다. 두 기숙사 나름대로의 장단점이 있는데 난 둘 다 좋다. 스파르타 기숙사는 수업하는 건물과 가까워서 쉽게 이동할 수 있고 수영장이 가깝다는 장점이 있고, 프리미엄은 티타임과 넓은 방과 화장실이 있어 집같은 분위기를 낼 수 있어서 좋은 것 같다.
  빨래와 청소는 필요할때마다 요청해서 할 수 있고, 하우스 키퍼들이나 가드들이 너무 착하고 잘 해주신다.

3. 식사
  워낙 한식에 오랫동안 최적화 되어 있던 몸이라 음식이 안맞을까 걱정이 많았다. 그렇지만 한식위주의 식단으로 과일도 종종 나오고, 맛도 꽤 괜찮아서 온지 3주밖에 안됬는데도 살이 찌고 있다.

I Went to Imperial Palace with My Batchmates.



  Imperial Resort and Plantationbay Resort are famous places in Cebu. In Imperial Resort case, there are swimming pools, water ridings and many accommodations.

My batchmate and I decided on going to Imperial Resort which is located Mactan beach.

When I went to go there, the weather was really good. So I could see beautiful Mactan beach and sky.

Above all, I completely enjoyed swimming, water slidings and eating a buffet with my batchmate.

Especially, the buffet was so fabulous.

 

   After arriving in Cebu, I could have a good trip for the first time in Imperial Resort. So I was happy to go there and enjoy many things, and I could get rid of stresses and worries.

THEME : Birthday Celebration
TITLE : Second Event of My Life

 

   1^st of November, 2013 was my 28^th birthday. My 28^th birthday is very special for me. Because I have never been gothad my birthday in abroad. Before I came to Cebu, in order to go to Cebu alone, I worried toabout spending special days such as my birthday, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day in Cebu.  Moreover, when I met my batchmates for the first time, I thought we don’t match each other. However, that was a prejudice. Not only most of my batchmates have kind consideration, but also they are sunny and cheerful. As a consequence, my spirit would be calm and comfortable on account of my batchmates. After I met my batchmates, I felt alive and I thought I’m not alone.

Now, let me tell you about my birthday story. I and My batchmates and I had dinner together on 1^st of November in a Korean restaurant which is a pig room. We were enjoying a lot of soju and pork. Suddenly, in the middle of athe meal, my batchmates were preparing my birthday cake and a gift. They were lighting a candle and singing birthday song. My batchmates were giving a framed letter which iscontains birthday celebration messages to me. I was impressed and surprised. After reading the framed letter, I was crying and felt happy. In succession, we took many pictures together, and we had a good time. I will never forget my birthday in Cebu with my batchmates. J

THEME : Professor
TITLE : The Love of Professor

When I was in university, I have attached to participated in the AWEM laboratory. The AWEM experiments on wireless communication, firmware, hardware control and so on. I joined the AWEM when I was a sophomore. I used to study about not only hardware and sensor controls but also software such as C/C++ languages. The AWEM havehas been havingbeing in the charge of major professors of 2. One of the professors of the AWEM is very kind and warm person whose name is RyuHwang. He teaches Electronic Circuit and Electromagnetism. Moreover, His teaching skill is really good.

As a rule, members of the AWEM used to prepare something as a present to our professors in every Teacher’s Day. One day ofon Teacher’s Days, he suggested invite AWEM members to his villa residence which is located in the countryside. As a result, graduates and undergraduates accepted his proposal and visited to his villa next the following year. Thenceforth, we have been visiting his villa every year.

Whenever we visit to villa, he always prepared smoked pork ribs and some vegetables for us. We were enjoying enjoy on our party in his villa. In addition, we stayed in there for 2days and 1 night. We have talked a lot to one another about their our job or family or relationship or safety and so on. Such as For example, some graduates want to move on to his job field. Another graduate wants to cash in on food business. Consequently, we mostly shared ideas and plans and problems.

Like this, he always takes care of his students. Also, he provides delicious food and calm place to AWEM members. Thus, I respect to his attention and consideration about to students.

THEME : Korea
TITLE : The Land of the Morning Calm

 

  I don’t know why Korea is called the Land of the morning calm. In my point of view, people can see the sunrise among mountains. We have many mountains and valleys. Thus, we can see great view during sunrise. Furthermore, we have a lot of beautiful sceneries and delicious food. For instance, not only the good places are Jeonju, SuncheonBay, Yeosu, Jeju island, Dokdo island, oedo island, Somaemuldo and so on, but also the good foods are Bulgogi, Tteokbokki, Bibimbap, Kimchi soup and so on.

 In my humble opinion, my best place of Korea is Somaemuldo which is an island. The island has a marvelous thing which is the sea in the island can divide and make a road among the seahas a sand bar which is connected to a light house. If we avoid the time when the tide begins to rise, we can see a natural phenomenon. In addition, if we walk through the roadsand bar and then we take steps upon stairs, we can see athe white light house. The light is also good.

Additionally, my best food of Korea is Kimchi soup. As, Kimchi is cooked and mixed with other ingredients easily. Therefore, I usually cook and eat Kimchi soup for and with my family. Kimchi soup can be makde including pork or canned tuna or any kinds of ingredients. Besides, tastes are different according to ingredients. I think most Korean people like Kimchi food. Because Kimchi is very useful to make various food

Consequently, if you want to visit Korea, you can enjoy everything in Korea.
